Lots of New News Round Up!
Wow! Where has the summer gone! I must apologize for not touching base before now. Crazy busy with lots of monkey wrenches like power outages, water outages, computer outages, flash card and cable outages, and more. A high school reunion, a family get together, a house guest, and more. Plus the usual gardening, wood stacking, mowing, and more. Not to mention painting and making cradle panels and frames. And the usual business of running an art business. Whew! I need a clone. How ’bout you?

So, lots of art and other news!
To summarize:
- Snake bite!
- I will be able to reveal the secret painting next week.
- Installation shot of a sold painting.
- Paintings going to a new home.
- 4th Street Festival of the Arts Labor Day weekend.
- New paintings hot off the easel.
- Final days for the Online Summer Art Exhibition and Sale.
Snake bite!
To cap off the summer, yesterday, while stacking wood, I came across a copperhead, a venomous snake, in the last 8-9 pieces of wood I had left to stack. I immediately stopped and started folding up tarps some distance away when I heard my dog yelp and run. Drats! He was bit on his muzzle near his nose.

So the rest of the day was spent researching, making calls, and running around to get some homeopathic remedies. My local vet clinic said they don’t treat snake bites and I should run him to a 24 hour emergency clinic in Indianapolis! Well, sadly, I have enough experience with snake bites with myself and three other dogs being bitten, I knew that was ridiculous. In the past, we had an old country vet who would give them a shot and charge $20 and send us on our way. One dog, bitten by a rattler, was never treated at all and was fine the next day. The dogs seem to recover in a day while I was laid up for nearly two months!
So, I gave my dog benadryl, ledum, lachesis mutus, arnica(both oral and topical) and he is doing well today. The swelling is mostly down and he has a good appetite. But, a day I was supposed to be painting, I was dealing with a snake bite. Priorities! Right?
Secret painting update
The recipients of the secret painting will be receiving it very soon. It is varnished, framed, and ready for them! So stay tuned!
Installation shot of a sold painting
I got these photos from Jeff and Bobbie of this painting they got at the Covington Art Fair installed in their Connecticut home.

For a special touch, their sister-in-law took a photo of them in my booth at the show with the painting and had it printed and framed for them. You can see it in the next photo in the lower right where it is displayed on the mantle with the painting. What an incredibly thoughtful gift! And adds to the provenance of the artwork.

Looks absolutely fabulous! Thanks, Jeff and Bobbie!
Paintings going to a new home
Houston and Julia and their daughter, Hadley, visited my studio/gallery here in Brown County, Indiana, and got these two paintings. Hadley is a budding artist who loved visiting an artist studio. They are just settling into a new house and wanted this painting as the centerpiece for over their mantle.

Luckily, I remembered to take a picture before they left!
I love to see photos of your artwork installed in your home so please send them to me to share. Hopefully, I won’t get too backed up and forget to share!
You are always welcome to visit my studio/gallery. Lots to do in Brown County as it is a historic art colony with lots of art, shopping, state and regional forests and parks to visit.
4th Street Festival of the Arts and Crafts
September 2-3, 2023: Fourth Street Festival of the Arts and Crafts, Bloomington, Indiana.
Come check out out this show with tons of high quality fine art and fine crafts by national, professional artists.
Go here to see my upcoming show schedule and where I will be exhibiting this fall.
New paintings hot off the easel
Here’s a couple of quick, rough shots of some new paintings. These paintings are 12″ high x 6″ wide and will fit that narrow wall space you have. I will have them at my fall art shows.

Couldn’t edit the photos because now my Adobe Photoshop is acting squirrelly! But, you get the idea.

Online Summer Art Exhibition and Sale Ending Soon
The Online Summer Art Exhibition and Sale will be closing the last day of summer, on August 31, 2023. Some of the paintings will go on to my fall art shows and some will go back in the vault.
Up to date
So, I think that about covers everything and brings you up to date!
Thanks for reading this far and I hope to see you soon at a show, here at my studio/gallery, or online!
I love you!
